The two most famous department stores (grands magasins) in Paris are Galeries Lafayette and Printemps, which live more or less side by side on boulevard Haussmann in the 9th arondissement.

If you're a keen shopper, they are a "must visit." You can find them here:

Galeries Lafayette is at:

Late night opening Thursday until 9 pm (21.00)

Printemps is at:

Late night opening Thursday until 10 pm (22.00)

BHV (Bazar de l'Hôtel de Ville) is not as expensive as Galeries Lafayette or Printemps, and is well worth a visit. It's located in the 4th arondissement, on the other side of the road from Hôtel de Ville (the City Hall).

Le Bon Marché is another famous Paris department store, and it's to be found in the 7th arondissement, at:

Thursday, Friday 10am to 9pm (10.00 - 21.00)

Le Bon Marché also has a wonderful food store, with a huge range of produce, and a great wine selection.
